In the United States, an estimated 70% of heavy metals in landfills comes from discarded electronics. Rapid technology change, low initial cost, and planned obsolescence have resulted in a fast growing surplus of electronic waste around the globe.
these are 2 fact about e-waste.
*29.9 million desktops and 12 million laptops were discarded in 2007. That’s over 112,000 computers discarded per day!
*180 million TVs, desktop PCs, and other components as of 2005, according to the EPA.

I can't believe that its 70%! America is a leading nation but 70% is such a ridiculous amount! The U.S. doesn't even fall close to the system that the UK uses to resolve its e-waste problems, if this keeps on going I don’t know what’s going to happen to this earth. Anyways, thanks for sharing these facts. Its such an eye opener!
