In the United States, an estimated 70% of heavy metals in landfills comes from discarded electronics. Rapid technology change, low initial cost, and planned obsolescence have resulted in a fast growing surplus of electronic waste around the globe.

*29.9 million desktops and 12 million laptops were discarded in 2007. That’s over 112,000 computers discarded per day!
*180 million TVs, desktop PCs, and other components as of 2005, according to the EPA.
